GETTING AROUND BANGALORE

As a metropolitan city, Bangalore has everything from malls to markets. The main cab operators are Uber and Ola and auto rickshaws are easily found across the city. Note that Autoriskshaws may also be chosen via apps like Uber, although many prefer to bargain and set a price (note that it is often double or more what the cost should be!)

Traffic significantly increases during peak hours, and can change a 20 minute ride in an hour. Areas like Hebbal, Manayata Tech Park, MG Road, Mekri Circle, and Silk Board tend to have massive traffic jams. Once you get the "lay of the land" you will know when and where to go at what times!

Ola and Uber car services are available anywhere in the city and suite affordable. Many teachers opt for a regular car service with a known provider. Some also purchase scooters and cars for getting around town. Motorcycle and car licenses are easy to get once your residency paperwork is complete. If you're planning to drive right away we recommend you get an international license from your state or national department of vehicles.
